LONGING or LAS AVENTURERAS, a comedic short about four women in search of a roaming bandit in 19th century Los Angeles, was commissioned and produced by South Coast Repertory in an evening of short plays about California's Latino history entitled CALIFORNIA SCENARIOS. Her play JUANITA'S STATUE,
an exploration of the Don Juan story from a female perspective, was commissioned and developed by the NYSF/Public Theater. Her play SANTA CONCEPCION,
a comedic exploration of a young woman's circuitous road to sainthood, was commissioned and developed by South Coast Repertory's Hispanic Playwrights Project and developed and produced at the NYSF/Public Theater. Her latest play, MARY PEABODY
IN CUBA, explores a young Cuban-American woman’s search for her New England ancestor who traveled to Cuba in the 1800’s. She has also written for Disney Creative Entertainment as well as Elysian Films.
She received her MFA in Playwriting from the Yale School of Drama, where she was a John Golden scholarship recipient, and BA in Theater Arts from Occidental College. She's been a MacDowell Colony fellow, a Jerome fellow at the Playwrights Center of Minneapolis, and a Phyllis Turnbull scholarship recipient at the Centro de Estudios Hispanicos in Madrid, Spain through Bryn Mawr College. She has been an adjunct professor at UC Santa Barbara, Cal Arts, UC Riverside, Wesleyan University and Macalester College. She is an alumna of the esteemed New Dramatists.
